J.J. Hickson has become a monster in Portland, but nobody knows about it. After slowly progressing in Cleveland, he left in a trade to the Kings. However, after having a career year in Cleveland previously, he flamed out in Sacramento. The Kings cut him and the 6 foot 9 center took his talents to Portland.
Hickson is currently on a one year deal and has earned every penny of it. Now, paired with Lamarcus Aldridge, J.J. has blossomed into a solid player. That's great news for Hickson though due to the fact that currently NBA teams are paying top dollar for Roy Hibbert level big men. Currently, Roy is averaging 11 points and 8 rebounds. Hickson is averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds. I'm not saying that the former Cavalier is going to make Roy Hibbert money, because he's not, due to his lack of height, but someone is going to pay him.
These are not suddenly great numbers either. Last season, J.J. averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds. He has become a double double machine and is starting to show why Cleveland drafted him 19th overall back in 2008. So, watch out for the name J.J. Hickson as he becomes a free agent this season and he truly is a sleeping giant.
