In a draft that, on the surface, lacks talent there's a bright spot if you can find him. His name is Tyler Tettleton and he is a giant hidden gem in this draft. He has the athletic ability to scramble and get out of the pocket. He can make touch sideline passes that you don't see from just anyone. However, you don't become a diamond in the rough without a little dirt on your shoulder.
Tyler has above average speed, that's clear, he just doesn't always use it to move forward. Tettleton must think he's Barry Sanders, because he has lost 66 yards scrambling this season. He also threw 12 interceptions to 21 touchdowns. You just can't give the ball away that many times in college football. As you can see, he's very erratic and that's something you can't be when you are 6 foot 1 and play for Ohio.
Part of the reason Tettleton throws so many Int's is his decision making. I've seen him throw the ball into triple coverage several times and wonder what he's thinking. Now, he has gotten away with it before, but he also has gotten burned, like in the Beef 'O' Brady Bowl where he threw the game away with 3 interceptions. Then, there are his mechanics. In the NFL, defensive linemen are now looking to swat your ball down, especially if you're short. Tyler is short. Tettleton also has as strange release point and appears to need to raise his arm up higher. This Bobcat won't last a game with that throwing motion.
Overall, Tyler Tettleton shows a lot of potential with his speed and touch passing, however with his questionable decision making and odd release he has a long way to go. If he can correct these things I could see him easily becoming a faster version of Kirk Cousins.
