In the NFL Draft the RB position is dead as there are rarely any of them taken high in the draft, but trust me in game situation it is alive and thriving. Before the age of the quarterback this was a pound it out league. You weren't going to win without a running back. We experienced Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and even the always amazing Jim Brown. Then came LT who had the potential to be the greatest of all they said. However have you ever thought about what happened to the Willie Parker's of the world? What about the Larry Johnson's? Flash in the pan RB's like those made all the others disposable. Teams' would draft talented runners in late rounds use them until they hit the dreaded age of 30, and throw them away like soda bottles. They just weren't needed in a league where you have QB's throwing for over 5,000 yards.
The thing is, they are still here. The Patriots have one of the greatest QB's ever, but they still have a 3 headed monster with Brandon Bolden, Stevan Ridley, and Shane Vereen. The Redskins drafted Alfred Morris in the 6th round. He's now 3rd in the league in rushing. Arian Foster was undrafted and is 5th in the league in rushing. In a league that's suppose to be all about the quarterback running backs are rising.
