With Rajon Rondo back, the Celtics' mood is on an uptick. However, in Danny Ainge's perspective, he's screaming, "Please don't stop the splattering of the green blood," because they are looking for a high first round draft pick. However, I'm not satisfied in waiting on a couple of talented players to develop, so I'm going to give the men in green the blueprint for a quick rebuild.
Boston is turning into the old version of the Houston Rockets. They just have too many fours. Also, Jeff Green's potential seems to be capped. So, the Celtics are sending Jeff and Brandon Bass to the Pelicans for Eric Gordon. This will give the Celtics a great building block for the future, while the Pelicans finally get a Small Forward as well as a solid PF.
After that, the Celtics should wait it out and not get too good. If Eric wants to chuck it he can chuck, but if he gets any momentum he's going to have to come out of the game to maximize the draft spot. Also, Boston better be rooting against the Hawks because they will have either their or the Nets' pick.
Once we zoom past this horrible season, the Celtics end up with the 7th and 13th draft pick. It is realistic but maybe not quite as much as the Celtics hoped. However, the Celtics lucked out in this draft and they get Aaron Gordon to fall to them. Boston then has the 13th pick to sweat out and they end up drafting Gary Harris, a nice player out of Michigan State who can fill it up.
Currently, Boston has a starting line up of Rondo, Gordon, Gerald Wallace, Aaron Gordon, and Kelly Olynyk. However, with this line up you would be black and blue down low so the Celtics need to send Kelly, a potentially good PF but right now not what the Celtics need, to Houston for Omer Asik, a tough Center.
There is only one hole in this line up though, it's the spot Jeff Green left behind, Small Forward. So I'm going to give Michael "B-Easy" Beasly the premier role that he is craving after his role playing season in Miami. This will also give me a nice scoring combo with Beasly and Eric Gordon.
With a starting line up of Rondo, Eric Gordon, Beasly, Aaron Gordon, and Omer Asik, gang green is back. Also, they have plenty of bench support with Avery Bradley, Gary Harris, and Jared Sullinger. Someone should e-mail this to Danny Ainge, because it gives you immediate results with long term potential. Honestly, though, this team can compete with most of the east coast, however, when you get into the dirty south I don't think this team can beat the Heat.
