When you look at the NBA franchise players they all have something that allows them to pop off the page. For example, Lebron James has his strength, while Kevin Durant has his size and guard like-abilities. So, the question is, who will have the rare ability to build off of a single strength to bring a franchise to the next level.
It has currently been reported that most NBA GMs and scouts prefer Joel Embid over the likes of Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins. On the contrary, who truly wants a young skinny big man who already has a back issue while the NBA is moving to small ball. In no way am I dissing Embid's skills and potential, however, I am saying Joel's skill set doesn't comprehend with the style of play. On the other hand, I do believe he can adapt to the changing environment, though this has become essentially a forwards league.
With that said, I will now narrow this discussion to two players - Parker and the electric Andrew Wiggins. Jabari has been hyped since high school, when he was called the best prospect since Lebron James by Sports Illustrated. Wiggins, more recently, has become the pride of Canada, though he had a disappointing run in the NCAA due to a lack of killer instincts. On the other hand, the Kansas product seemed to be more willing to take over a game as he dropped 41 points in a loss to West Virginia. Jabari, on the other hand, also experienced an up and down season. However, he was far more reliable than Andrew due to his more refined scoring ability.
Never the less, Parker has been compared to Carmelo Anthony many times over, who though may be a superstar, has failed to win anything in the NBA. In the meantime, Wiggins has the athleticism of a Michael Jordan with a developing jump shot and already having a defensive prowess that resembles Michael-Kidd Gilchrist. Due to that, I have to say that Wiggins is more likely to be a franchise cornerstone than any other athlete in the draft due to his athleticism and defensive awareness.
