A possibly overweight stretch four that might be moved to the Small Forward, and not to mention he was drafted too high. I know we have heard this story before. However, does Anthony Bennett have just enough talent to change the world's thinking about a hybrid three man?
In my opinion, Bennett will be a disappointment due to going number one overall. The problem is I just can not see him playing Small Forward in this league. He doesn't have the quickness, the ability to handle the ball, and he won't be able to defend the three, so every time the Cavs play a Nicolas Batum level Small Forward they will get destroyed.
However, he does have some things going for him. For one, he can shoot the three ball. Also, and what I think is the best thing he has got going for him, this year during the NBA Finals we saw Boris Diaw slow down Lebron James. He was able to do this because of his strength not foot speed. The Spurs plan was to stick Diaw on Lebron and let him shoot a long to mid-range jumper over and over again instead of letting him dominate with his post game. This is what the Cavaliers are going to have to do every game of the year, or they could always run a zone.
Overall, the Anthony Bennett pick shocked the world, but depending on Cleveland's defensive scheme it might just work and make them look like geniuses for selecting the super athletic big man.
