Dak Prescott is closely linked to Tim Tebow. Prescott's Head Coach also coached Tebow while he was with the Gators. They seem to have similar body builds and mobility. However, after Tebow was a first round pick in 2010, and Jon Gruden stated that he could "revolutionize" the game the lefty wonder finds himself out of the NFL at the age of 27. So whether Dak wants to be compared to Tim or not he is too far gone. So here's the question, can Dak Prescott survive in the NFL?
While watching the Auburn vs. Mississippi State game I was amazed as two of the most mobile QB's in all of college football battled it out. The game itself is not what amazed me though, the difference of the style of running of the two QB's is what put me into shock. As the lightning quick Nick Marhsall produced numbers and results in the rain most of the time, Dak Prescott was able to gain yards at will. He did this by using his own combination of speed and power to dominate in the rain. To add to that Dak is faster than Tebow ever was, and has shown the ability to throw the ball. While Tebow had a slow methodical release, Dak's is much quicker and he seems to read the defense well and go through his progression.
With that said, I not only think Prescott can survive, but prosper in the NFL thanks to the increase in design QB runs. The main difference between Prescott and Tebow isn't speed though, but throwing ability. Tim could never beat a team with his arm while Dak has that kind of potential. Expect to see a lot more of this Mississippi State legend in the future as he continues to progress.
